Colin lost 20 kilograms in 3 months

As Australians only Disabled V8 Supercar Driver I am used to facing challenges. So when I decided to get a personal trainer I needed someone that could find away to get around the challenges that my body faces.

I started training with Sam to increase fitness, lose weight and to help my body and its joints last longer. I was in a car accident in 1997 which left me with a paralysed left leg, muscles removed from my right thigh, lower back and 65% of my abdomen. I was in a wheel chair for 3 years and needed another 2 years of rehabilitation to learn to walk again un added. My sport and passion is driving a V8 Supercar which I started in 2006 and to be able to take my racing to the next level I needed to lose weight and gain fitness.

I started training with Sam last October about 12 weeks before a race. In that time I lost around 20 kilograms and increased my fitness to the highest level since leaving hospital. At the race I achieved my best result ever in my V8 Supercar.

Sam's years of being an elite athlete have given him the tools and insight to help me with planning meals, hydration levels and mentally prepare for the race weekends.

After training with Sam for 3 months I am the fittest I have been since my car accident and I have also achieved things I did not know I could do-lunges, squats, jumping, chin ups. I have gained strength in the remaining muscles in my paralysed leg and am able to control it better. Training has also delayed the need for me to get a hip replacement from 5 to 15 years after reducing my weight from 100kg to 80kgs. My joint pain has been reduced greatly and I am more active and able to enjoy my family.

This was all achieved in such a short time, I am looking forward to achieving new goals and seeing where training with Sam can take me. Sam has shown me how to work around my injury's and shown me nothing is physically out of reach.
